Ernesto Nemesio is a storyteller who shapes emotion through light. For over two decades, he has served as a Lighting Art Director and Shading Artist at Pixar Animation Studios, crafting the visual atmosphere for some of modern cinema’s most beloved animated feature films.
A first-generation Mexican American, Ernesto’s artistic journey began with a deep reverence for the physical world, leading him to the ArtCenter College of Design. There, he fell in love with the timeless immediacy of oil painting and the challenges of plein air landscape work.
Today, Ernesto balanced his time between the bleeding edge of digital filmmaking and the quiet, tactile world of classical realism-impressionism. Whether manipulating pixels for a global audience or capturing the fleeting California sun on canvas, his guiding principle remains the same: chasing the light to capture the soul of a place.
